Unexpected Pleasures
I've had two unexpected pleasures lately...
I picked up Calvin Trillin's Tummy Trilogy and it is such a delight. The man loves food and loves the kind of things I think are really at the heart of American cookery. His description of scrapple inspired me to actually make my own (my first adventure cooking pigs' feet and using a meat grinder...it was pretty tasty). He actually mentions a few places I've eaten or have intended to eat at (most of them for years).
Also, I had Amy's frozen cheese enchiladas. (Sometimes we do eat frozen at lunch.) Sooooo good. A close runner up to my mom's (but mom's are flat with a fried egg on top as nature intended).
Mmmmm....
