AWOL
I'm about to disappear for a few days to go celebrate my brother's fortieth birthday. I'm only saying so because I have been known to vanish into the internet-ether for long periods of time without warning. Now, I'm warning you that I'll be back on Friday.
In the mean time, here's something for all the folks still ruminating on the whole home-cooked food thing: I'm starting to get the feeling from Dreher's blog (and the comments there) and from some comments here, that nothing short of gourmet cooking is sufficient to save American culinary civilization. That is, it'll take an America familiar with truffle-infused olive oil to rescue our palates, not just regular gals like me trying to perfect their apple pies or chicken and dumplings. What say you, readers new and old?
